PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize shorter measuring time while allowing measurement corresponding to various microplates in a microplate reader. SOLUTION: In the microplate reader (100), a filter (4a) takes out selectively light of a specific wavelength from the light output by a light source part (2). A light guide part (5) guides the light of the specific wavelength. A line generator lens (7) diffuses the light in the predetermined direction wherein wells (11a) of the microplate (11) are arranged, and a cylindrical lens (8) adjusts angles so that the diffused light turns to the microplate. Samples contained in the wells are measured by detecting the light transmitting a plurality of the wells of the microplate arranged in a sample room (1) by a detecting part (10).
