The mattress has an upper part (2) with upper visible side (4) and a lower part (3) with lower visible side (7) which fit together so that mutual contact sides (6o,6u) with interacting protrusions and indentations engage and an upper tangential plane which runs through the highest protrusions of the upper contact side is aligned parallel to the upper visible side of the upper part whilst a lower tangential plane which runs through the highest protrusions of the lower contact side is parallel to the lower visible side and all the narrow sides (5k,5l) of the upper part in the assembled state of the mattress align flush with the corresponding narrow sides of the lower part.
