PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain effects such as reduction in size, improvement in performance, reduction in noise, and reduction in cost by abolishment of a sound insulating packing or thinning of an outer board panel, in an outdoor unit for an engine-driven air conditioner. SOLUTION: This outdoor unit for air conditioner comprises a heat exchanger for passing a refrigerant, a fan for sending a wind of air to the heat exchanger to heat-exchange the refrigerant passed through the heat exchanger with the air, a refrigerant pipe, a casing containing the heat exchanger, the fan and the refrigerant pipe, and the outer board panel set so as to cover the surface of the casing, which exhibits a sound insulating effect or the like.
