PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp assembly, a back light assembly, and a display device having the lamp assembly, and a method for driving a lamp for the display device. SOLUTION: The lamp assembly comprises a lamp body for converting invisible ray generated by a discharge into visible ray, a lamp disposed on the lamp body having first and second electrodes, and a lamp driving device providing the first and second electrodes with first and second driving voltages, respectively, to generate the discharge. The first driving voltage is less than a first critical voltage at which a corona discharge occurs at the first and second electrodes. Accordingly, ozone gas generation due to corona discharge is prevented around the first and second electrodes, thus preventing the first and second electrode from damages.
