PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide improvement in comfort by restraining oscillation caused by a counterbalance passing by a cage or adjacent cages passing each other at a high speed operation even when area of a hoistway or the like is restricted. SOLUTION: The cage 21 and the counterbalance 2 are elevated/descended in an opposite direction to each other in the hoistway provided with the entrances. The cage 21 has vertical surfaces at upper/lower portions of the cage room 3 on the entrance side and has air registering capsules 4, 5 having an inclination surface at least on one side surface among side surfaces on the side orthogonally crossing with the entrance side and the side surface on the cage room back surface side. Air registering plates 10, 11 are provided at the inclination surface on the side facing the counterbalance 2 or the side facing the adjacent elevator cage among the inclination surface of the air registering capsules 4, 5 with a clearance from the inclination surface, when the cage 21 and the counterbalance 2 pass with each other, or the cages pass with each other, pressure caused by existence of the air registering plate generates a force in the opposite direction to a vibration force caused by passing.
