PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small thermal printer which can reduce the number of components and the number of assembling man-hours, and which can ensure accuracy of assembly. SOLUTION: A speed reducer 8 is formed of reduction gears 10 and 12 which are arranged in a casing 9, and an output gear 11 which is equipped with an output shaft 11a and a gear 11c. The output gear 11 is brought into continuous contact with a platen roller 4; the speed reducer 8 is fixed to a side wall 3a of a frame 3; and a bearing 9e for rotatably supporting the output shaft 11a is formed in a side wall 8c of the casing 9, which is fixed to the frame 3, of the speed reducer 8. In the reduction gears 10 and 12 of the speed reducer 8, gears 10c, 10d, 12c and 12d of them and rotating shafts 10a, 10b, 12a and 12b are integrally formed, and the reduction gears 10 and 12 and the casing 9 are formed of resin materials, respectively.
