PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that, when an image pickup optical unit including an image pickup element is stored in an outer case of a rigid member and hardened and fixed with adhesive, a cover glass and a centering glass of the image pickup element are exfoliated by contraction due to hardening of the adhesive. SOLUTION: When the image pickup optical unit 23 comprising the image pickup element 35 stored and disposed in an image pickup frame 31, the cover glass 34 and the centering glass 33 is stored in the outer case 37 formed of the rigid member and hardened and fixed with the adhesive, the outer case 37, in its bottom inside, may be disposed with a member softening the adhesive force of the adhesive, or the adhesive may be undergone by non-sticking treatment, so that this endoscope can absorb the tensile force by the contraction of the adhesive generated in the hardening process of the adhesive by the adhesive-force softened member or non-sticking treatment.
