PURPOSE: A hermetic vessel of a closed compressor is provided to increase strength of an upper vessel by forming a recessed groove or a projection unit on the upper surface of the upper vessel and accordingly to prevent noise from being diffused to the outside by restricting resonance of the upper vessel. CONSTITUTION: A hermetic vessel of a closed compressor is composed of a lower vessel(51) for receiving a compression mechanism unit and a motor mechanism unit; an upper vessel(53) for covering the upper part of the lower vessel; and a strength reinforcing unit installed at the side of the upper vessel to improve stiffness of the upper vessel. The strength reinforcing unit is a recessed groove unit(53a) that is dented downward from the upside of the upper vessel or a projection unit that is protruded upward from the upside of the upper vessel.
