A fixing apparatus in an image forming apparatus of an electrophotography type is provided to reduce a rise time of temperature at the surface of the fixing apparatus by forming an insulation film on the inner or outer surfaces of a metal circular pipe and forming a thin film heater on the insulation film. An insulation film(24) is formed on the outer surface of a circular metal pipe(23) so as to provide electrical insulation. A thin film heater(22) is formed at the outside of the circular metal pipe while the insulation film is placed between the thin film heater and the circular metal pipe. When power supply is applied to a side of the thin film heater, this thin film heater generates heat through resistance heat emission and then directly transmits the generated heat to the circular metal pipe. A passivation layer(21), formed on the outer surface of the thin film heater, prevent foreign substance and toner from being attached onto the thin film heater. A metal pad(25), formed at an end part of at least one side of the thin film heater, equally transmits the power supply to a side of the thin film heater. A power connection terminal(26) is contacted to the metal pad.
