1,152,119. Percussive tools. ATLAS COPCO A.B. 24 Nov., 1967 [29 Nov., 1966], No. 53532/67. Heading B4C. A percussive tool, such as a road breaker 10, comprises an impact piston 12 movable in a housing 11 having bores 22, 23, 25, 26 in which a pair of tubes 27, 28 slide, and a pair of handles 34, 26 secured to the tubes so that a tool bit 20 may be pressed against a workpiece via a pair of recoil damping springs 30, 31. An abutment shoulder 32 is formed in a cylinder head 16 secured to the housing 11 so that when the toolbit is not in contact with the work the springs 30, 31 urge the ends of the tubes into engagement with the abutments. In operation, the handles are pressed downwardly thereby moving the ends of the tubes away from the abutments so that the recoil forces are not transmitted back through the handles. A lubricator 53 is provided in the cylinder head 16 so that at each repeated operation of a trigger-actuated valve 40 a dose of oil is fed to the machine. |
