PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose an optically active 2-alkyl-3-hydroxy-1,2-dihydropyridine-4-carboxylic acid derivative and a 2-alkyl-2-alkoxycarbonyl-nitrogen-containing saturated cyclic compound which are optically active nitrogen-containing cyclic compounds industrially useful as synthetic intermediates for medicines and agrochemicals and to propose a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The optically active 2-alkyl-3-hydroxy-1,2-dihydropyridine-4-carboxylic acid derivative and the 2-alkyl-2-alkoxycarbonyl-nitrogen-containing saturated cyclic compound are produced in high optical purity as follows.
