PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device for a vehicle capable of maintaining an excellent steering feeling as high as possible and improving safety by giving an operational reaction force from a reaction force actuator to an operation member as much as possible. SOLUTION: The operational reaction force is given to a steering wheel 1 from the reaction force actuator 9, the operational reaction force is given from an elastic member 10 when the reaction force actuator 9 is in an operative state. A main control part 21 determines abnormality of the reaction force actuator 9 and a reaction force control part 22 controlling the actuator 9. If it is determined to be abnormal, the reaction force actuator 9 is made to be in an operative state. When it is returned to be in a normal state, the control of the reaction force actuator 9 is restarted. The main control part 21 counts the number of repetitions of the abnormal determination and the normal returning determination within a predetermined time, and when the count value reaches the predetermined value, the return to the normal state generating operational reaction force is forbidden by the reaction force actuator 9.
