PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline dry battery not exerting a bad influence upon an environment and having good sealing property by using a sealant capable of applying without dissolving in an organic solvent. SOLUTION: The alkaline dry battery is equipped with a battery case, a sealing plate sealing an opening part of the battery case, and a gasket interposed between the battery case and the sealing plate, and a sealant layer containing 12-20 C higher saturated fatty acid and monovalent unsaturated fatty acid, and containing 10-60 wt% higher saturated fatty acid and 90-40 wt% unsaturated fatty acid is interposed between the gasket and the battery case.
