PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging apparatus which not only suppresses a temperature of a semiconductor device including a semiconductor element for charging as much as possible but also relaxes a local concentration of a heat by reducing a heating value generated from the semiconductor element for controlling charging current even if a secondary battery is charged by larger charging current. SOLUTION: The charging apparatus of the secondary battery controls current and a voltage supplied from a dc power source, charges the secondary battery and controls a voltage applied to a first semiconductor element by using the secondary battery. More specifically, the first semiconductor element and the second semiconductor element are connected in series with each other and the second semiconductor element is controlled so that a voltage applied to the first semiconductor element is held substantially constant.
