PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory system which can be extended with a simple structure, and its controller. SOLUTION: This memory system is provided with a host integrated circuit component, at least two data memories, at least one parity memory storing parity information corresponding to the data stored in a corresponding address space of the data memories and at least two controller integrated circuits. Each controller integrated circuit (IC) is provided with a controller IC, a memory control logic controlling communication between the data memories connected to the controller IC, a parity logic calculating the parity information of the data communicated to or from the data memories, a logic communicating with IC accompanying the parity information to or from a companion IC and a logic communicating the data to or from the companion IC.
