PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protector for protecting a ball joint that can be securely fixed to the ball joint. SOLUTION: This protector 6 comprises a protector main body 7, and a cap 8 engaged with an end part 7c of it. In the end part 7c of the protector main body 7, a slit 9 is provided. In an outer circumferential surface of it, a release time engagement surface part p with small distance from an axial center, and a tightened time engagement surface part q with a large distance from the axial center are provided. In the meantime, in an inner circumferential surface of the cap 8, an actuation surface part r having a roughly similar distance from the axial center to the distance of the release time engagement surface part p from the axial center is provided. As the cap 8 is rotated around the axial line, the actuation surface part r of the inner circumferential surface is engaged with the tightened time engagement surface part q of the end part of the protector main body 7.
