PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a small-sized fixing apparatus by rendering the mechanism relating to supplying a release oil into a simple configuration. SOLUTION: The apparatus is equipped with: a pair of rotating bodies 12, 13 which add heat and pressure to a recording medium carried through a nip part 16; an oil supplying device 14 to supply a release oil to the surface of at least one rotating body 13; and an oil collecting member 15 which is positioned outside the paper feeding range for a recording medium in the maximum size carried through the nip part 16 and which touches the surface of the rotating body 12 to collect the excess release oil. As the amount of the release oil collected by the oil collecting member 15 is decreased, installation of a mechanism to circulate and reuse the collected excess release oil is not required, and that can simplify the fixing apparatus 5 and reduces its size.
