PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a light quantity adjusting member which hardly causes the deterioration of image quality by diffraction in the grain boundary of the dot of a coloring liquid, realizes the low manufacture cost and high product yield, and is easily obtained. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for the light quantity adjusting member where a colored part containing at least transparent resin and color material and comprising a specified optical density area and a transparent part containing at least transparent resin are formed on a transparent base material includes a process for forming the colored part consisting of at least the specified optical density area by imparting a transparent liquid containing at least a transparent organic solvent and/or water to the transparent base material provided with a transparent resin layer having liquid absorptivity on its surface by using a 1st liquid imparting device so as to swell the transparent resin layer, and then imparting a coloring liquid or the coloring liquid and the transparent liquid to the transparent resin layer by a 2nd liquid imparting device before the transparent resin layer is dried.
