PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a diaryl iodonium hydrogensulfate in high yield and reaction efficiency and giving a colorless final product. SOLUTION: The method for the production of the diaryl iodonium hydrogensulfate contains (1) a step to form a solution containing an aromatic iodine compound by the reaction of an aromatic compound A with an aqueous solution of peracetic acid and the dehydration treatment of the product with acetic anhydride and (2) a step to react the aromatic iodine compound with an aromatic compound B, sulfuric acid and a peracid salt in acetic acid. The content of the acetic anhydride in the solution containing the aromatic iodine compound and produced by the step (1) is≤5 wt.% based on the total amount of the reagents used in the step (2), and the solution obtained by the step (1) is used in the step (2) without separating the aromatic iodine compound.
