A rotor for a wind turbine includes a hub (8) and at least one rotor blade (10), which is rotatably mounted on the hub (8). The pitch angle of each rotor blade (10) or rotor blade part (111) is driven by a pitch drive comprising a direct drive (36). The term direct drive is used for electric machines, which are directly coupled to the system load without the use of belts or gears. This direct drive may also be used for a wind turbine's yaw drive system. In this configuration a direct drive is used to rotate the wind turbine's nacelle with respect to its tower. |
