<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently smelting a special steel of a smaller lot than the capacity of a facility by using the existing facility, without newly installing various facilities or remodeling them for the smaller lot. <P>SOLUTION: This smelting method comprises smelting and degassing the special steel through normal smelting steps with the use of an electric furnace, a ladle refining furnace and a vacuum degassing apparatus, while using an electric furnace and a ladle with the smallest capacity installed in an existing steelmaking facility; taking an aliquot from the obtained molten metal and casting it into an objective small lot; mixing remaining molten steel with a molten steel having a different component, which has been separately smelted in a different electric furnace; ladle-refining the mixed molten steel; subsequently vacuum-degassing it; and casting it into an ingot while considering it as a molten steel with a new component. Such a method of taking the aliquot from the molten metal smelts the objective small lot of a special steel without aggravating operationality of the existing steelmaking facility, while securing the smallest treatment capacity of the facility. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
