PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical waveguide which can cope with a fine pattern dimension having high surface smoothness and which has a favorable figure, and to provide an optical waveguide obtained by the method. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an optical waveguide is characterized in that an optical waveguide is formed by a relief print reversal offset method including: a coating face forming process to apply an ink composition containing a resin and a solvent on a releasing face to form a coating face; a removing process to press a relief printing plate of a specified figure to the coating face and transferring the ink composition to the protruding part of the relief printing plate to remove the ink; and a process for transferring the ink composition remaining on the coating face to a substrate.
