PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To offer an inexpensive induction motor which can prevent a drop in torque and is low-vibration and low-noise, by enabling it to smooth the switching of polarity thereby suppressing the rotational irregularity of a rotor thanks to its concentrated winding system which has a simple winding process. SOLUTION: Though a rotor 3 and a stator 1 are positioned via an air gap, the air gap between them is not equalized but is set to be unequal. In case the basic air gap is supposed to be of dimension A, an air gap B is set to widen smoothly as it comes to both ends of cores on main pole side and cores on commutating pole side as against this dimension A.
