PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a tripod type constant velocity universal joint, and to reduce the cost thereof. SOLUTION: The inner peripheral surface 32 of a roller is formed to have a circular projecting cross section, and the outer peripheral surface of a trunnion journal is formed to have a straight vertical section, and the outer peripheral surface of the trunnion journal is brought in contact with the inner peripheral surface of the roller in a direction crossing the axis of the joint in the cross section, and formed with a clearance between the inner peripheral surface of the roller in the axial direction of the joint.
