A boring bit for drilling accurate holes, i.e. stud holes in hard materials, has a cylindrical cutting profile with inner conical shape and is coated with diamond. The boring bit (4) is attached to the narrower shaft (2) by a threaded connection or by any other suitable means and is easily replaced. A duct (6) for removing swarf and cutting debris runs from the conical surface and along the shaft. The diamond coating is applied by a galvanic process to the cutting edge and to the inner conical taper.
