New amino-oxidase from Streptomyces thioluteus, useful in synthesis of the polyketide antibiotic aureothin

An fully defined 481 amino acid sequence (SEQ ID No:2) as given in the specification is new. The sequence encodes a protein which is an amino-oxidase (I). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) methods for preparing the protein; (2) a fully defined 1446 nucleotide nucleic acid (II) sequence (SEQ ID No:1) as given in the specification; (3) Streptomyces thioluteus DSM 40027, and its variants and mutants, that produce (I) and/or (II); and (4) heterologous host organisms, and their variants and mutants, that produce (I) and/or (II).
