PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method whereby an enantiomorphically enriched nitro-substituted 1-phenylethylamine is produced simply and effectively. SOLUTION: The production method comprises the following processes: a process (A) wherein a compound of formula (III) is reacted with a compound of formula (IVa) (not illustrated) or formula (IVb) (not illustrated), thus converted to a compound of formula (V); a process (B) wherein the compound of formula (V) is reduced in an organic solvent by using a boron hydride (borane) complex and an acid, thus converted to a racemate of formula (Ia); and a process (C) wherein the racemate of formula (Ia) is enriched enantiomorphically by using an enantiomrorphically enriched acid, giving an enantiomorphically enriched compound of formula (I).
