PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for inserting a rotor, wherein safety is improved, inserting work can be conducted with a small jig, and eccentricity can be suppressed to enhance the reliability of the work. SOLUTION: A stator 3 is substantially horizontally fixed, and a rotor 2 is disposed in alignment with the direction of axis and installed on a movable body 8. The movable body 8 is substantially horizontally displaced by a driving means 9, to insert the rotor 2 into the stator 3. Since the rotor 2 is displaced and inserted horizontally, as mentioned, the inserting work can be conducted with high safety. Further, since the small rotor 2 is displaced, the rotor can be guided with a small jig, and a small-sized inserting apparatus can be implemented. A distance D between the positions, in which the movable body 8 is supported, is decreased as the rotor 2 is inserted. Therefore, the rotor 2 can be surely prevented from being decentered, due to bending in a shaft. As a result, the axial gap between the rotor 2 and the stator 3 can be surely maintained, and the reliability of the inserting work is enhanced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
