摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the effect of improving fuel consumption and emission control by allowing effective combustion in succeeding cylinders in a wider operation region by compression self-ignition while suppressing the occurrence of knocking. SOLUTION: A combustion condition control means 44 controls combustion performed in the succeeding cylinders 2B, 2C in an operation region in a special operation mode by compression self-ignition. In an operation region on a low load side, stratified lean combustion is performed in preceding cylinders 2A, 2D in a state that injected fuel is stratified while controlling a new air filling rate to be increased in the succeeding cylinders 2B, 2C with a load increase in the succeeding cylinders 2B, 2C in the operation region on the low load side. In an operation region on a high lad side, homogeneous lean combustion is performed in the preceding cylinders 2A, 2D in a state that the injected fuel is uniformly dispersed while controlling the new air filling rate to be reduced with a load increase in the succeeding cylinders 2B, 2C in the operation region on the high load side.
