PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine output control device capable of providing sufficient traveling performance even if an exhaust control valve does not operate correctly. SOLUTION: An engine ECU 15 comprises a basic ignition timing map 151, a basic fuel injection amount map 152, a target opening determination part 153 determining the target openingθex-t of the exhaust control valve 11, an exhaust control valve diagnosing part 154 diagnosing the exhaust control valve 11, an abnormal state ignition timing map 155 determining a basic ignition timingθig when the exhaust control valve 11 is diagnosed to be defective, and an abnormal state injection thinned-out table 156 determining the thinned-out rate Rex of fuel injection when the exhaust control valve 11 is diagnosed to be defective. An exhaust control valve drive unit 14 feeds a drive current Iex to an actuator 12 so that a target openingθex-t notified from the engine ECU 15 matches an actual valve openingθex.
