PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for controlling an engine at the start thereof capable of solving problems produced by the resonance of a crankshaft with a flywheel at the start of the engine. SOLUTION: In this method of controlling the engine E at the start thereof, an output from the engine E is transmitted to an external T/M through the flywheel F. When an engine rotational speed remains in the resonance rotational speed area R of the flywheel F which is equal to or lower than an idle rotational speed for a specified period Mt at the start of the engine, departure control for departing the engine rotational speed from the resonance rotational speed area R by regulating the injection of fuel is performed.
