PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute processing without giving anxiety to a vehicular occupant when executing processing for adding restriction to controlling action, in a vehicle control device executing the processing for adding restriction to the controlling action of a vehicle when failure occurs in the vehicle or when the vehicular occupant commits an operating error. SOLUTION: In failure corresponding processing executed by an ATEC of each ECU connected by an vehicular interior LAN, the presence or absence of a failure signal from either one of the ECU is determined. When failure is not detected (S210:YES), normal transmission control is executed (S220). When the failure is detected (S210:NO), selective control processing (S240) wherein the ATECU carries out controlling such as fixing a shift according to external operation or a state of a vehicle is conducted.
