PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing prenyl alcohol in excellent production efficiency. SOLUTION: Cells having enhanced activity of one or a plurality of enzymes selected from the group consisting of HMg-CoA reductase, farnesyl diphosphate synthase, geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase and phosphatidate phosphatase are cultured in the presence of ethanol. Prenyl alcohol and a saccharide are accumulated in the culture and prenyl alcohol is recovered from the culture. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
