Arrangement for in-situ testing of rolling stock wheels has a testing arrangement (3) for scanning the running surface (6) and or the wheel rim (13). The testing arrangement is arranged at the lowest point of the wheel. Thus the testing arrangement is preferably placed between the rail and the raised wheel. An independent claim is also included for a corresponding method for testing rolling stock wheels.
