PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a producing method of a hard coating film which metallic oxide sol has excellent coating properties to a base material, and which can form a coating film having uniformity, high hardness, excellent water repellency, photocatalytic nature and high dielectric properties. SOLUTION: The producing method of the hard coating film comprises coating the oxide sol of at least one metal selected from among the groups III, IV, and V of the periodic table on a surface of the base material under an atmosphere of relative humidity of at least 50%, and then setting treating the metallic oxide sol coated on the surface of the base material.
