Aerobic microbial gas purification involves flow through a microorganism-inoculated reactor containing a wet medium (especially liquid nutrient) for the microorganisms, the contaminant breakdown and simultaneous sorption material regeneration being effected by special microorganisms of the Thiobacillus genus and the wet medium being continuously withdrawn from the reactor (1) as an oxygen-enriched nutrient salt solution (9). An independent claim is also included for an apparatus for flow-through gas purification using a reactor containing thiobacteria immobilized in a wet medium formed by a liquid nutrient and also a medium providing oxygen for the thiobacteria such that (a) reactor (1) communicates with a further reactor (2) (optionally also containing the wet medium) with the communication (5,6) being between the lower inlet of reactor (1) and the upper outlet of reactor (2); and (b) the thiobacteria with the oxygen-providing medium exit in admixture with a mineral nutrient salt solution from the lower part of reactor (1).
|
