A casing (1010) has guide devices (1011-1013) to insert a transformer in its right position in a lamp base. The guide devices have a hollow guide stay (1011) molded on the casing's outer side to guide one end (1021) of a transformer's (1000) winding (1020) through. The guide stay has a reduced width on its leading-in side. The casing has a vent hole. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a lamp base with a transformer fitted in a chamber of the lamp base; and (b) a high-pressure gas discharge lamp with a lamp base.
