Each rod 1, has helical fins 2, which extend outwardly from the cylindrical surface and which engage at points along the edges of the fins of adjacent fuel rods. By varying the helical pitch, the contact point separations may be varied along the rod length so as to prevent resonance vibrations. The fins may also be discontinuous along the rod length, existing only in lengths in the region of the contact points. |
