Each set comprises wedges 38, 40, Figs. 2A-2C, which run on needle rollers 80, 82, are urged into the clan ping position by springs 108, 110, and are moved against the springs to release the clamping pressure by an axially movable hydraulic piston and cylinder 116, 118. Hardened steel plates 66, 68 screwed to members 34, 36, run on faces 26, 28 of column 10, and bend during clamping due to recesses 72, 74 in the plates, so as to produce a wedge lock effect. |
