The variable valve controller (10) has an arrangement (13) at least for reducing throttle losses in the internal combustion engine, especially when the engine is operating under partial load. The arrangement contains a system (14) for continuous adjustment of the valve lift and opening duration by radially displacing the basic cam circle relative to the center point of the camshaft (11). An independent claim is also included for an internal combustion engine with one or more variable valve controllers.
