STIR FORMING DEVICE AND A STIR FORMING METHOD FOR FORMING THE DESIRED NONPLANAR WORK PIECE BY PRESSING A WORK PIECE AND APPLYING PLASTICITY WITH A FRICTION STIR FORMING TOOL

PURPOSE: A stir forming device and a stir forming method are provided to form the work piece into the desired and complicated shape with the refined granular structure, to reduce manufacturing cost, and to improve the property of material by partially applying plasticity to the material and pressing the nonplanar work piece. CONSTITUTION: A die(20) with the outer nonplanar surface is prepared corresponding to the desired shape of material(100), and the material is supported partially by the die. The material is bent by partially infiltrating a pin(44) into the material, and pressed by a shoulder(42) of a friction stir forming tool(40). The pin of the friction stir forming tool is rotated partially in the material to apply plasticity to the material while pressing the material by the shoulder of the friction stir forming tool. The friction stir forming tool is adjusted along the specific passage corresponding to the outer surface of the die in pressing the material by the shoulder to press the material into the desired shape by the shoulder and to form the friction stir formed range in the material with the refined granular structure.
