PURPOSE: A system and a method for manufacture/updating an insertable portable OS(Operating System) module storing an execution image of an OS are provided to store the execution image of the OS to a non-volatile memory unit of the portable module when the OS is executed on the first computer and use the execution image on the second computer by inserting the portable module into the second computer. CONSTITUTION: A computer system(110) includes a portable OS module interface(137) and the portable OS module interface receives the portable OS module(180). The portable OS module includes the non-volatile memory(185) and an OS execution image(190). When the portable OS module is inserted into the portable OS module interface, a BIOS(Basic Input/Output System)(115) detects the portable OS module and loads the OS execution image to a memory unit(125) from the portable OS module. The BIOS starts to execute the OS on the computer system. The loaded OS controls the computer system, and offers an interface among a non-volatile storage(120), the memory unit, the BIOS, and an additional device(130).
