FIELD: machining slabs made out of glass. ^ SUBSTANCE: the invention allows to apply high supporting efforts and to exercise relative motion of such a material between a supporting device and a machined slab of the material. The device) contains a supporting device (SD) for slabs of the material (SM) and the gear for machining the SM. SD contains paired members with facing each other supporting surfaces, between which there is SM. In the supporting surfaces there are apertures for a liquid outflowing under pressure. The SM is supported not mechanically but with the help of a liquid film formed under pressure in a clearance between SM and the supporting surfaces of the supporting members. ^ EFFECT: the invention ensures machining of glass slabs at applying high supporting efforts and to move it between a supporting device and the supporting surfaces of the supporting members. ^ 13 cl, 4 dwg |
