FIELD: metallurgy. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes delivery of neutral gas to working space of converter through its mouth in loading the scrap and pouring molten cast iron from ladle suspended from crane into inclined converter. Neutral gas is fed in at least two pairs of jets directed to gap between converter mouth and upper end face of pouring ladle. Upper jet of neutral gas contains sprayed water. Proposed device includes shelter with aperture for loading the materials and pouring molten cast iron, gas discharge passage fitted with gas cleaners and gas supply nozzles fitted on shelter and mounted symmetrically relative to inclined converter. Water supply nozzles are mounted coaxially in one pair of gas supply nozzles. Proposed method reduces emission of ecologically dangerous gases, red fume and dust. ^ EFFECT: reduction of emissions; reduced exhaust gas temperature; enhanced resistance of metalwork. ^ 6 cl, 3 dwg
