Fastener driving tool for spacing object from substrate

A fastener driving tool nosepiece (16) used to drive fasteners (6) that hold and space an object (2) at a predetermined distance (D) from a substrate (1). The fastener driving tool comprises; a housing; a driver blade (14) within the housing for driving the fasteners (6); and a power source for driving the driver blade (14). Each of the fasteners (6) comprises; a bridge portion (7); a first prong (8) extending in a driving position from the bridge portion (7); a second prong (9) spaced from the first prong (8) and extending generally parallel in the driving direction from the bridge portion (7); and the second prong (9) being substantially shorter than the first prong (8). The fastener driving tool nosepiece (16) comprises of: - (a) A trailing end coupled to the fastener driving tool housing; (b) A substrate contacting end (20); (c) A channel for axially guiding the driving blade (14) and fastener (6) in a driving direction towards the substrate (1); (d) A slot (24) proximate to the substrate contacting end laterally extending into the channel for receiving the object; and (e) A curved ramp (26) within the channel with a portion of the ramp (26) positioned between the slot (24) and the substrate contacting end. The ramp (26) interferes with the path of the second prong (9) causing the second prong (9) to bend towards the first prong (8) and hold the object (2) between the second prong (9) and the bridge portion (7).
