PURPOSE: Provided is a method for cultivating a long life Platycodon grandiflorum for five years or more to reduce the damages by blight and harmful insects and to increase the content of saponin by using the drugs of medical herbs. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of heating a solution of Platycodon grandiflorum, Schizandra chinensis BAILL., Angelica gigas Nakai, Rubus chingii Hu, Polygala tenuifolia, Houttuyniae Herba, Glycyrrhizae Radix, Saururus chinensis Baill, Cassia tora L., the corm of a hemp, Eucommiae cortex, Polygonum multiflorum Thunberg, Poria cocos WOLF, Crataegi Fructus, Torilidis Fructus, and the root of Atractylodes japonica KOIDZ by 100 g each in 15 L of water at 95 deg.C for 4 hours two times continuously to extract it; collecting the medical herb drugs, mixing the drugs and water in a ratio of 1:10 to heat it at 95 deg.C for about 12 hours, filtering the extracted one (solid component is about 3.5 Brix) and concentrating the filtered one under reduced pressure to increase the concentration of final solid to 20 Brix; adding 10 L of water to 50 cc of the obtained drugs extract of 20 Brix to prepare a solution for spraying to the soil before sowing, and spraying the solution to soil and sowing seeds on the soil; directly spraying the solution to the leaves of Platycodon grandiflorum when the flowers are fallen after the flowers of Platycodon grandiflorum are bloomed completely; directly re-spraying the solution to the leaves of Platycodon grandiflorum on the beginning of October in case of the cultivation for 2-5 years; and spraying the solution 2-3 times in each year and transplanting Platycodon grandiflorum every 5 years.
