An amusement ride comprises:- (a) A support tower (12); (b) A support beam (14) extending from the support tower (12) with one or more cam arms (18) pivotally mounted to the support beam (14). One or more attachment portions (34) are mounted on the cam arms (18) with the cam arms (18) and attachment portions (34) movable between a loading position and an operating position, such that the attachment portions (34) in the operating position are elevated with respect to the attachment portions (34) in the loading position; (c) A passenger carriage (24); and (d) One or more cables (26) attached to the attachment portions (34) and to the passenger carriage (24), wherein the passenger carriage (24) swings safely above the ground from the attachment portions (34) in the elevated position.
