Protein-silane / siloxane copolymers, their preparation and their use in hair care

A protein-silane and/or protein-siloxane copolymer obtained by reacting a protein and a silane compound is disclosed, wherein the relative amounts of the protein and the silane compound being such that in the range of from 0.1 to 0.4 silane molecule is present for each reactive amino group of the protein. The copolymer is suitable for use in hair treatment compositions and is useful in reducing damage to hair caused by flexure and/or abrasion thereof.
