The receiver cone (9) for the oil leaks (12) is placed above the wreck at a small distance from the bottom (100m, for example) and with a diameter greater than that of the wreck, so one can be sure that all the leaks are recovered by the cone : The oil received by the receiver cone goes to a flexible reservoir (3) supported by an annular compartment (8) filled with air under pressure (1 bar for example) preventing the flexible reservoir from sinking when it is full of oil. The flexible reservoir has a flexible sleeve (7) which pumps the oil from the wreck and a guide ring (4). A weight (5) fixed to the end of a small cable (of Kevlar (RTM; poly para-phenylene terephthalamide)for example) which passes through the guide ring pulls on the end of the sleeve until it returns to the guide ring when the pumping is stopped. Concrete blocks (13) (6 for example) with a number of rings (2 for example) are placed around the wreck. Cables (10) (in Kevlar (RTM) for example) run through these rings holding the cone and the flexible reservoir so the bottom of the cone is held at a small distance from the bottom and the top of the flexible reservoir is held at a sufficient depth (100m for example) so that larger ships causing great swells cannot damage them.
|
