METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DESCRIBING MOTION ACTIVITY CHARACTERISTICS OF MOTION PICTURE ON THE BASIS OF INTENSITY AND DIRECTION OF MOTION PARAMETERS

PURPOSE: A method and a device for describing motion activity characteristics of motion pictures are provided to generate motion descriptors formed of static factors of intensity and direction of parameters, thereby simplifying search or comparison of motion pictures. CONSTITUTION: A method for describing motion activity characteristics of motion pictures includes the steps of extracting motion parameters from a given motion picture(S110), and extracting statistical characteristics of intensity for the motion parameters in each screen when a screen for the motion picture is formed of m blocks or objects(S2100). Statistic characteristics of direction for the motion parameters are extracted last(S3100).
